In the house across from the brook
There was a laptop
And a partially finished book
And a picture of -

A fish dangling from a hook

And there were two sleepy heads getting ready for bed

And an empty coffee can
And a broken house fan

And an ugly black bug
And a moth eaten rug

And a cough and a hiccup and water in a cup

And a tired mom yelling, "GET IN BED AND STOP GETTING UP!"

Goodnight brook
Goodnight book

Goodnight fish dangling from a hook

Goodnight laptop
and the partially finished book

Goodnight sleepy heads
Goodnight beds

Goodnight empty coffee can
And goodnight broken house fan

Goodnight alarm clocks
And goodnight mismatched socks

Goodnight ugly black bug
And goodnight moth eaten rug

Goodnight cough
And goodnight hiccup

Goodnight nobody
Goodnight water cup

And goodnight to the tired mom yelling, "GET IN BED AND STOP GETTING UP!"
